Year Round Walks

Year Round events may be open daily, January through December. Year Round events are not limited to just one or two days in the year and have no set start/finish time. It is expected that you will start and finish the walk in daylight hours. Walks are 10 kilometers long (6.2 miles). However, there are some walks that have a 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) option that you can choose. On average, a 10 kilometer (10k) walk will take around 2 hours, depending on your pace.

Numerous private and public businesses work in conjunction with volkssport clubs across the nation by allowing the clubs to set aside an area for the starting point of a walk (known as "The Walk Box").

For instance, one of the Sound Steppers’ walks starts at Providence Everett Medical Center in Everett, Washington. When you arrive at the hospital, "The Walk Box" is located in the lobby. "The Walk Box" has all the needed registration materials, along with a map and directions for the walk

.Sound Steppers also maintains start boxes at Top Foods Grocery Store in Edmonds, Harbor Square Athletic Club in Edmonds, Top Foods Grocery Store in Snohomish, Albertson's Store in Lake Forest Park, Central Market in Mill Creek and Top Foods Grocery Store in Shoreline)

Once you have completed a walk, you will find self-stamped, addressed envelopes for sending in the credit fee, which is usually no more than $3.00, and the stamp pad for stamping your Events/Distance booklets. [Note: You may also do the walk for no credit, in which case there is no fee.]
